Sedgwick Business Interiors and Roberts Office Interiors have been awarded contracts for office and common area furniture, furniture reconfiguration services, design services, delivery, installation, and warranty repairs. These new contracts resulted from a five-month process of evaluating suppliers based on cost, selection, value, and service, with ergonomics, accessibility, and sustainability in mind.
Sedgwick Business Interiors (SBI) is a privately-held company with 55 employees, serving over 30 counties, with offices in Syracuse and Rochester. SBI’s primary furniture line is Herman Miller, a company headquartered in Zeeland, MI.
Roberts Office Interiors (ROI) is a privately-held company with 35 employees, with offices in Syracuse, Albany, and Rome. ROI is a New York State certified woman-owned business enterprise, and its primary furniture line is Teknion Furniture, a company headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
Both companies are well established in upstate New York and offer furniture from a number of ancillary furniture companies. The Sedgwick agreement includes used furniture inventory management (Asset Inventory Management – AIM program in e-SHOP), which includes used furniture storage and delivery services for all furniture brands available on the Ithaca campus. This service provides the university with the option to repurpose furniture rather than buying new.
Thank you to the campus committee that worked on this project for five months! The campus committee was composed of representatives from major academic and administrative units across the Ithaca campus, including Facilities Management, business service centers, Infrastructure, Properties and Planning, Campus Sustainability, Environmental Health and Safety, as well as a representative responsible for ensuring compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
