The University Treasurer's office is responsible to obtain external debt financing to fund capital projects and working capital of the university, using many resources to finance capital projects such as:
- Tax-exempt debt
- Taxable debt
- Lines of credit
The department also:
- Provides guidance to the Cornell community on different financing arrangements
- Monitors the university's private use compliance related to tax-exempt debt
- Manages the internal loan system that Cornell community uses to apply to borrow money from the university to finance projects or purchase capital equipment
