The Summer Student Intern Program led by the Alliance for Diversity and Inclusion (ADI), for fiscal year 2016, had the highest diverse participation since the program’s inception in 2008. Of the 19 interns hired, the participants were 47 percent female and 63 percent diverse. Also, 10 percent of the interns returned to their positions during the academic year. Part of the success of the year’s hiring process was an early start; recruiting began in December 2015 with an application deadline of mid-February. The program started up on June 2, 2016.
