Procurement Services is very pleased to be leading one of the ten focus teams for the President's Sustainable Campus Committee. Our staff lead is Senior Director of Procurement and Payment Services Thomas Romantic, and our academic representative is Jeanne Varney, lecturer at the School of Hotel Administration. The team's purpose is to implement actions in support of campus-wide sustainability efforts in both operations and facilities. The scope and goals of the Purchasing Focus Team surround a commitment to choosing environmentally and socially preferable products and services.
The Sustainability Hub is a coordinating body for a number of students and pre-existing organizations that seek to aid them in the development of their goals and campaigns.
Take Back the Tap is a student initiative at Cornell to reduce the supply and demand of bottled water, ultimately to strongly reduce the sale of bottled water on campus and reinvest in public water infrastructure.
Lights Off Cornell, an energy conservation initiative, reduces wasted electricity at Cornell by engaging student volunteers in turning off lights after hours in academic buildings.
