A predictive search function helps you find the e-doc or other feature you need. For example, searching for disbursement displays everything related to disbursements.
Users only see options they can access according to their roles. Some users can only search for docs, but may not be able to open docs.
Show or hide functions by type: Activity, Reference, and Administration.
Persistent links to Action List, Doc Search, and KFS Help.
The Action List and Doc Search screens will display within the KFS environment.
E-doc buttons are persistent at the bottom of the window when scrolling.
A sign-out feature is available by clicking on your user name.
E-docs appear cleaner with more white space and larger, clearer fonts.
Other Technical Improvements
KFS stays within one browser tab and doesn't spawn multiple tabs.
Warning messages appear in colored text instead of standard black text.
Searches within the application (account, vendor, etc.) are presented side-by-side vs. in a long, stacked list.
On multi-line e-docs, the line number presentation has been improved to display a blue box with the line number next to the completed line.
A new "Import Templates" link appears next to the Accounting Lines heading, next to the question mark (?) button. The link takes you directly to import templates instead of routing you through Help.
The phone number entered in the Contact Information on the Disbursement Voucher (DV) e-doc persists when the user copies the DV.
The Ad hoc tab is formatted differently: NetID is first and then action requested.
Functional Changes
Action list vs. Doc Search: Users can no longer search for e-docs in the action list; it's a separate function.
Financial e-docs: The position of the GL Transaction Line Description has shifted to the far right.
General Error Correction (GEC) e-doc: Accounting lines have been reformatted from 2 lines to 1 line.
Accounting lines:
A plus (+) button replaces "Add" to add a line. Once an accounting line is added, buttons are available to present balances, delete a line, or refresh.
The From/To section are now numbered in blue font. When a line is deleted, the accounting lines are not renumbered, which is not a change, but the fact that the lines aren't renumbered may become more visible because of the color change.
Full accounting line descriptions can be displayed by hovering over the text.
Notes/Attachments: The "cancel" button below the attachment field has been renamed Delete Attachment. Use this option to delete an attachment you've added before clicking the add button to add the attachment. This option only applies to attachments you haven't added.
Printing: Users can no longer print to PDF or print using their browser's print option. This is not a bug, but the result of the new user interface features, which include floating buttons, collapsible menus and hover-over text, none of which are printable but all of which significantly improve usability. Before you print, please consider using the KFS application to support your needs. The KFS database acts as the university's system of record and as a repository for all financial documents. By using KFS, you no longer need to print documents. Instead, you can search KFS for the information you need to do your job. If you need to remember to follow-up on something, send an ad hoc acknowledgement to your own NetID. Not printing also supports Cornell's sustainability efforts. Please consider the environment before printing.
If you cannot perform your duties without printing, use these workarounds:
Save to file: Use the "Save as..." feature in your browser to save an .html version of the page. The file can be opened for printing. You may need to adjust the page layout and scale. The route log section will not be included in the file.
Screenshots: Possible tools include Snagit (try the Panoramic function), Nimbus Screenshot plugin for Chrome or Nimbus Clipper for Firefox (works best for full-page captures), or other screenshot utilities. Also try cutting and pasting text into a Word document.
