Starting October 9, 2024, the University Tax Office will offer virtual office hours via Zoom to foreign national students to help them navigate tax rules and requirements.
Foreign nationals who receive payments from Cornell University other than travel reimbursement and honorarium must complete a tax profile, which helps determine their U.S. tax status and eligibility for a U.S. Tax Treaty. It also helps Cornell assess their U.S. tax status for proper tax withholding (i.e., eligibility for exemption from income or FICA taxes, etc.).
Sessions will be held every other Wednesday, starting Oct. 9, from 10-11:00 a.m. and limited to 20 participants. Foreign national students or anyone with questions about tax rules for foreign nationals can register to join the Zoom call. You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom information after you register.
These sessions are subject to change depending on staff availability. You will be notified if the session for which you registered has been canceled.
