I Want doc improvements went live April 2

As of April 2, 2023, several changes are available in the I Want doc that we hope will improve the user’s experience. These changes were made based on customer and focus group feedback.

Select how to view the I Want doc and toggle between views.

Two views will be available: four-step and single-page modes. The option buttons will change in the two views:

Four-Step Mode

The image below shows the options you will see when you first open a new I Want doc. You will be in the traditional four-step mode. The usual Continue, Save, Close, and Cancel buttons are visible. The new option is Show 1 Page, which shows the document on one continuous page.

Single-Page Mode

When you switch to viewing the doc on one page, the options change. The image below shows options available when viewing in the single-page mode, which shows the Submit button instead of Continue. You can select Show 4 Steps to toggle back to the four-step mode.

Step 2: Account

Previous instructions:

NOTE: If you do not know the specific account number to be charged, please provide information in the account description box below (i.e. NSF research account, salary recovery account).

Revised instructions:

NOTE: If you do not know the account number, in Routing and Submission (Step 4) enter the NetID of the person in your college or department who can provide the account number and authorize the transaction.

Step 3: Vendor

Previous Instructions:

NOTE: Please provide as much Vendor information as you can, if you do not know the Vendor please leave blank.

Revised instructions:

NOTE: Please use Vendor Lookup to select. Or provide Vendor name, email address, and mailing address.

Step 3: Notes and Attachments

Previous instructions:

If you have documents to send to the FTC/Vendor follow these instructions:

  • Select an attachment description from the drop down box
  • Click browse to locate and attach your document
  • Click add
  • Repeat to add additional attachments

To include a Note:

  • Select Note from the attachment description drop down box
  • Type the note in the note text field
  • Click add
  • Repeat to add additional notes

Revised instructions:

To attach supporting documentation:

  • Select the appropriate attachment description from the drop-down.
  • Enter note text related to the attachment (optional).
  • Browse to select the attachment and click Add.

To include a Note:

  • Type in the Note Text field.
  • Click Add.

Step 4: Routing and Submission

This tab has been relabeled College/Unit Routing and Approval.

Previous instructions:

  • Do not enter your Net ID in the box below.
  • If additional approvals are required prior to submitting to your Service Center for processing, please list the individual's Net ID below.
  • Please click the Submit button to route to the named approver or your Service Center.

Revised instructions:

  • Account number and transaction approval are required.
  • Please enter the NetID of the person in your college or department who can provide both.

Choose Approver Options for “Order Completed”

In the Order Completed section, two options are available:

  1. College/Unit approved for processing by service center.
  2. College/Unit has processed this request.

Select the first option to send the document to the service center for processing. If the unit has already processed the request, choose the second option to approve and finalize (close) the request.
