Scheduled Service Change - AWS Resource Explorer Configuration to be Standardized

Sunday, February 15, 2026 - 8:00am

On February 15-16, 2026 a standardized Resource Explorer configuration will be deployed to all Cornell AWS accounts. This configuration will create Resource Explorer indexes in all active regions and create an aggregator index in us-east-1.

This new configuration will replace any customer-deployed Resource Explorer configuration. No customer action is required but Resource Explorer degradation is expected during this change.

Cornell AWS accounts without existing aggregator indexes may experience degraded Resource Explorer searches in the period between existing index deletion and when new indexes are fully computed.

Cornell AWS accounts with existing aggregator indexes will have those indexes removed early in this 36-hour change implementation period. New aggregator indexes will be created 24 hours after the previous aggregator index was deleted. This timing is required by a 24-hour waiting period enforced by AWS for such changes. During this waiting period, cross-region searches will not be available. Once the new aggregator index is created, Resource Explorer searches still may be incomplete while new indexes are fully computed.

See the list of affected AWS accounts on Confluence (login required).
