Doing Business Abroad

While Cornell University is centrally located in the state of New York, its operations, outreach, and programs extend across the globe. To learn more about where Cornell is going and who is involved, visit the Global Cornell website.

Just as there are tax concerns involving employees, independent contractors, and business operations here in the United States, there are tax concerns in every other country we step foot in. If you are looking to engage in a foreign country, please utilize Navigate. Navigate is designed to be the central, internal resource for faculty and staff when it comes to research, instruction, and travel within the United States and internationally.

Look through the resources here to find answers to questions you may have about tax issues related to doing business abroad.

If you have questions related to international tax, operational practices, or other concerns, please submit your questions on the Navigate website. The University Tax Office is part of the Navigate team and will work with you to provide the best advice for your project or unit and the university as a whole.
