One Cornell

We will collaborate with Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Tech in support of the presidential priority of being One Cornell. Realizing this vision will maximize efficiencies and effectiveness, reduce costs, increase collaboration on financial functions and systems, and increase Cornell’s collective buying power and compliance with laws and regulations.

The Accounting team will lead this effort to identify mechanisms to increase contact, communication, and collaboration with key stakeholders at WCM and Cornell Tech. Early and frequent communication about pending changes to financial functions and systems and procurement processes and programs will enable exploration of joint projects and systems that enhance operations and reduce expenses at all campuses.

Actionable Items

The following items are tasks performed during this initiative:

  • Conduct quarterly face-to-face leadership team meetings.
  • Continue monthly zoom meetings with finance teams at all campuses with standing agenda templates, and joint audit planning and status calls.
  • Integrate Cornell Tech fully in KFS and other Ithaca financial systems.
  • Explore better linkages and an understanding of other potential cross-campus collaborations.
  • Align outsourcing payables and procurement.
  • Implement a contract management system for all campuses, where possible.

Expected Outcomes

  • Cost reductions and efficiency will be realized and opportunities to capitalize on those efficiencies will be captured.
  • Savings will be realized in supporting Cornell Tech growth and preventing redundant administrative systems.
  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations will increase.
