After 30 years of service to Cornell University, Dennis Butts retired on August 31. Dennis came to Cornell from Smith Corona and has spent the entirety of his career in the office currently known as Procurement and Payment Services. Dennis began his career at Cornell as a buyer (a.k.a., procurement agent). With his aptitude with computers, systems, and processes, Dennis’ role evolved into a systems and IT liaison. He was intimately involved with development, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of Cornell’s Automated Procurement and Payment System (APPS), which was Cornell’s financial system for approximately 20 years. He was equally involved in implementing e-SHOP, Cornell’s e-procurement system, and developing other procurement tools, such as the Web Requisition, utilization of EDI, and eInvoicing. (We believe that Cornell’s current eInvoice efforts are the most advanced of any educational institution in the country.)
Dennis is looking forward to traveling with his wife, Angie, and catching up on roughly 30 years of home projects. As you drive by a golf course, look for him.
